Random Updates

Okay, so I know I promised this would be Monday's post, but I'm a little behind. :)
Last week, for the FIRST TIME EVER, K.J. got 5 green lights!
Woo Hoo! WAY TO GO K.J.!
As a reward, he received a prize from the prize box at school (a little yellow car) and at home he got to pick out 5 of the toys that were packed up. He wrote a list of the 5 toys (to practice his writing) and then Kenny and I went to the shed and pulled them out. Of course he chooses my least favorite toy, a very big LOUD toy car. This car flashes lights, has music and makes car sounds...LOUDLY! But hey, he deserved it.
As a teaser (and I know I shouldn't do this) he has 3 green lights so far this week and just needs 1 more for another whole week (no school on Friday!).

So tomorrow is Halloween! AND I have the day off!!! YEAH!
I have so much to do still...pumpkin patch, carve pumpkins, costumes, plans, OH MY!
K.J. is going to be Batman, I think and Camden is going to be a pumpkin (if his chunky butt fits into K.J.'s pumpkin outfit from when he was a baby). I am thinking about dressing up as a baby, but haven't made the final decision yet. The boys and I are gonna have pizza at Mom's house with Tres and Toria and then Trick or Treat down Mom's street and in our Townhouses.
Simple and I love it!

Saturday morning we all (Kenny, myself and the boys) are going to the AZ STATE FAIR!!!
I can't wait!!! I LOVE the fair and every since Kenny and I started dating we try to go every year, there have been a couple years that were missed, but NOT this year!
The rides are okay, but we really love playing games and of course eating FAIR FOOD! YUMMY!!!
After a few hours with the boys we will go home, rest up and get ready to go back at night...just Kenny and me!!! :)
And guess what....

SHHHHH!!! We are going to see L.L. Cool J...yeah baby!
Kenny got the tickets over a month ago and I am so excited
(I know, I'm a dork)
But you have to understand that this was THE MAN in my younger years, I even met him back in the day. I think Kenny is just being nice, I don't think he really has any interest in watching me drool over this man for an hour or so...LOL!
After the concert we will hang out at the fair like young kids. We like to play games and win silly prizes, again we are dorks, well at least I am. ;)

And finally, just a reminder to all of you registered to vote, next Tuesday, November 4th is ELECTION DAY! Do your civic duty and VOTE!!! Be part of HISTORY! I AM!!!

A Proud Moment

K.J. has been in Kindergarten for a little over 2 months now. I have been impressed with the school he is in and with his teacher, Mrs. People's. Last night was the proudest moment...so far. K.J. and I were reading the book he brought home to read this week, Come On Up! by Joy Kim. As we were reading, K.J. would read the words he knew, he was identifying them, identifying the letters and sounding the words out. But then...we were about half way through the book, I turned the page and K.J. reads "I will not go that high!" in a loud, clear voice! I stopped and looked at him, he had a HUGE smile on his face and so did I! We finished the book and he continued to read more and more. I finished tucking him into bed, kissed him goodnight and went downstairs. I was so excited, I ran to Kenny and was shouting "He is reading! K.J. is reading!" and I started to get a little teary eyed.

It is happening so fast, this little boy growing up right before my eyes. I had to go into school this morning for some other business, but I made a point to stop by and see Mrs. Peoples. I wanted to share with her and thank her for being such a wonderful teacher. She expressed to me how great he is doing in class too. She also told me how awesome his behavior is and that he is really making an effort everyday to make good choices. WAY TO GO K.J.!!!

Just Because

Last Friday Kenny came home with 4 red roses...just because!

Isn't that sweet? I bet you are wondering what he did huh? ;)

I really wish this happened more often!

Have a beautiful day people!

Twinkle Twinkle Traffic Light

Twinkle Twinkle Traffic Light

on the corner big and bright

Red means STOP

Green means GO

Yellow in the middle means you better go S L O W

Just a quick note to say I shouldn't have posted anything about lights on Friday, I should have waited until Friday was over because K.J. ended up getting a yellow light on Friday...bummer. On the upside, he still did not get any red lights last week. Also, on his progress report he had all S's and O's (Satisfactory and Outstanding)! We will see how this week goes. I will post about it NEXT Monday! ;)

Camden is 2 Months Old!

Isn't he just precious?
I really hate being away from him all day now, but I LOVE going home to him.

I love it when he coos and smiles. I love it when he kicks his feet, I think he likes that too. He will kick on the couch, the bed, in the bath (he really likes the splashing water), and even at the doctor's office (he likes to kick the paper on the exam table).

He sleeps at night, usually at least 8 hours. This is very helpful for me since I am back at work, I don't know if I could do it if he wasn't SO good!

As you can see, he can grab and hold objects now too. And of course he is trying to put everything in his mouth. I can't wait till he can master putting his passy in his mouth! ;)

Everyone seems to be amazed at how strong he is. He loves to lift his head up, play on his tummy, stand with help and sit up. He doesn't really like to be babied at all. He must think he is grown already.

K.J.'s First School Picture

We got school pictures this week! I have to say that this little boy is SO handsome! He is growing up so quickly right before my eyes.

K.J. absolutely LOVES Kindergarten and his teacher, Mrs. Peoples. He is learning so much. He loves to... write his letters and numbers, read signs everywhere we go, ask a million questions about everything, write his name (he can write them all...KJ, Kenny and even Kenneth). This week his class started homework every night (except Friday's) and a weekly reading program. It is so cool to see him enjoying school and learning...I LOVE IT!

His behavior at school has improved greatly, I can't even remember the last time he had a red light. If he gets a green light today, he will have his 1st week of all green! He is really excited about this and the reward he will receive. As many of you know, we took away all of his toys, and I mean EVERYTHING due to his behavior when school started. At first, we were giving him a toy for every green light. However, he kept getting red lights and we would have to take away everything he had earned back. It was turning into a lot of work and was really frustrating. Finally we decided, no toys until a whole week of green lights, then he can earn a weeks worth of toys. It has probably been a month now (because some yellow lights pop in every once in awhile) and he is ready to get some toys back. This morning before school he told me that he can't wait to get his green light and some toys!

I will let you know if he succeeds in his goal! Oh...the next thing he would like to earn at school is the "Bubble Award". It is an award given in his class every week to the "student of the week". He talks about it and his face just lights up, I am really pullin' for him to acheive this too! :)
